The Fair Work Commission - an independent commission - has decided to reduce Sunday penalty rates for hospitality and retail workers.

Malcolm Turnbull has previously supported the idea of cutting penalty rates, saying they only still exist for “some historical reason I guess, I don’t know. Whatever man.”

He later (after removing the silver spoon stuck in his mouth) clarified his position more elegantly, stating: “The Liberals are a party for reducing taxes. We proudly support this move by the FWC to ensure that low income workers pay even less tax by reducing their income by up to $6000 per year! That’s a whole $6000 less to be taxed on! Try to think positively. You’ll need to to help you get through those extra hours you need to work just to afford food now.”
