Nobody cares what’s happening in Mexico
Today the government spoke. They told us the 43 students are likely death and that the killers burned their bodies. We have nothing. Not the bodies , not the truth. Nothing. We don’t believe them. We need evidence. We need help.
Please help us, spread what’s happening in Mexico.
It’s a crime to be a student in Mexico. We are being repressed and we need international preassure for answers and for the government to take action or to resign if they are unable to manage this human rights crisis.

True oppression is not being tear-gassed or arrested at a protest. True oppression is not being called a “gremlin” by the police in the local newspaper.

True oppression is going out to protest and never coming home, and your family not even getting your body for a proper burial. That’s oppression. Not getting to speak at all under penalty of death.

I try not to invest in playing Oppression Olympics, and find it frustrating when folks attempt to compare injustices as if one is more traumatizing or unjust than the other. Back in the 40s/50s/60s, they would massacre coal miners who attempted to go on strike. They also lynched kids who tried to rally Black folks to register to vote in the South. Which was worse? Does it really fucking matter?! Both were despicable acts.

True oppression is having those you pay to protect or defend you, turning on you, making you the enemy. True oppression is not having your life valued— dead or alive, it doesn’t matter. True oppression is knowing at any moment, they can kill you, claim self-defense, and no one will ever care to know if it’s true. True oppression is wondering if “you’re next.”

True oppression is all these things and more. When will focus more on liberation?

Who’s playing “Oppression Olympics”? These are ALL things that are happening right now!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it appears as if the commentary above mine is meant to contrast the protests in Ferguson and the student protests in Mexico, saying one is “true oppression” and the other is something lesser.
