this is a very interesting video by an actual japanese person born and raised in japan and i think it brings up a few good points and it’s worth watching

If he was born and raised in Japan, he can speak for Japanese people and that’s fine, but he cannot speak for Japanese people living in America. Japanese people living in Japan might not be negatively affected by the video because their own culture isn’t inherently racist, however, in the west where the majority of society is prone to appropriating different cultures, Avril’s video does enforce harmful and negative stereotypes.
