What’s really wild is that the native people literally told the Europeans “they walked” when asked how the statues were moved. The Europeans were like “lol these backwards heathens and their fairy tales guess it’s gonna always be a mystery!”

Another one of my personal favorites is the story of the platypus and how the Aboriginal People told the Europeans of a creature with the “bill of a duck”, “body of a rat”, and a flat tail. This creature laid eggs but had fur, but do not anger it because it was poisonous.
Of course the Europeans totally dismissed this as “savage mysticism”, but LONG BEHOLD, one of the colonizers found one and couldn’t believe his eyes. Sent the dead body to Europe and got all praise for discovering an animal that already was discovered.
