It’s the money of people who chose to invest in that kickstarter because it amused them. They aren’t bad people for using their own earned money for their own entertainment and joining a popular gag instead of using it for a “better cause”. Telling others what to do with their money and judging them for not spending it as righteous as possible sounds like whiny entitled behavior to me. If the kickstarter wasn’t popular these same people wouldn’t give a flying fuck about where that part of a strangers budget went. But now that it came together for something that isn’t good enough for the world it’s suddenly privileged injustice because nothing can just “be” anymore.
Are the people who bought farm simulator on steam during the steam sale for laughs horrible because they didn’t put their money into charity instead? Should we rant and hate on the people who buy novelty items with their own money, buy something they don’t really need or spend it for their own entertainment instead of on bettering the world? No. Not everything has to be a morality and negative “holier than thou” contest I’m getting so sick of this.
