YYOOOOO
SO I NEVER NOTICED THIS BEFORE, BUT THE RING MINK GIVES AOBA HAS A TURQUOISE STONE ON IT
OK SO FOR ONE: it’s blue like aoba duh
BUT
OK
SO
TQ [i have really bad spelling so I’m shortening it to TQ I apologize a lot.] IS RLY IMPORTANT TO NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE IT WAS KNOWN AS THE SKY STONE AND BELIEVED TO BRING GOOD FORTUNE AND GOOD HEALTH
MINK PRETTY MUCH JUST GAVE AOBA A RING WITH A STONE OF GOLD ON IT OK
HE WANTS AOBA TO HAVE SENTIMENTAL THINGS THAT WHILE THEY ARE NOT MATERIALISTICALLY VERY NICE THINGS, TO MINK THEY ARE VERY NICE AND GOOD THINGS
TO THIS DAY EVEN FAMILIES WHO HAVE LOST TOUCH WITH THEIR NATIVE AMERICAN ROOTS STILL GIVE TQ AND EVEN AS A KID YOU KNOW IT’S IMPORTANT GROWING UP I HAD SO MUCH TQ JEWELRY AND STONES
SO HE GIVES HIM:
- A DREAM CATCHER: Meant to protect and catch negative spirits or nightmares
- A TQ RING: i mean fuck it’s a ring but not only is it a ring it’s pretty much a symbol of “I want you to have good things in your life please have this it is very important to me.” AND HE WANTS TO SHARE THAT WITH AOBA
- and then the bracelets but idk what’s up with that culturally or not
OK SO TL;DR MINK JUST DROPPED SOME FLY BLING BLING ON AOBA
*Please feel free to correct me I’m only going by what I researched and what I knew as a kid growing up
**I do not own Mink’s character and therefore do not know if this is canon or not this is just me theorizing and noticing stuff
***fuck I can not English I am so sorry guys
^ Dude what this person said. I inherited a lot of my Aunt’s jewelry which included a ton of turquoise jewelry. Admittedly it’s also really common because of it’s importance - you cannot walk two steps without finding a Native American with some turquoise or finding some in a Native-run shop - but that doesn’t lessen the fact that YEAH culturally turquoise is really important.
BONUS: My Dad’s wedding ring has turquoise stone instead of diamond. He’s part Cherokee and I think he inherited it from my Grandfather, who was also Cherokee.
Think about that for a minute.
