reading old harry potter fanfics i favourited from who knows when

a trend that isnt only prevalent in the fanfics but also the original series (but not to such a big extent) that now pisses me off is how everyone is always comparing harry to his parents

but maybe i believe more in nurture than nature because all this ‘you act just like your mother/you do this just like your father, youre x just like your y’ irks me because its like

how could he have possibly picked up those habits?? genetic memory??

he grew up socially isolated in an abusive household that probably was a direct opposite to how he would have been treated had he had his parents

i dont think hes going to ruffle his hair just like his father or laugh just like his mother okay
