I added trigger warnings to the original post, but I thought about it, and really, it’s a tough photo to look at and not one I’d want popping up in my newsfeed. So I made it a text post. The student, who is female, has been actively involved in an opposition to tonight’s Men’s Issues Awareness Society (MIAS) talk. She claims to have received multiple threatening emails related to her involvement prior to the incident.
It’s unclear if the student knew the attacker; however, the attacker was male and knew the victim’s name, according to a source, who has requested to remain anonymous for safety reasons.

She posted a photo of injuries on Facebook following the incident, showing her chipped tooth and bruised face.
“How’s this for a ‘no makeup selfie’?,” the post read.
“I was punched in the face multiple times and lost half my tooth. This was after a few threatening emails regarding my support for feminist activities on campus. Take care of yourselves and try not to go out alone.”
MIASsparked controversy after it announced it will host an event titled “What’s equality got to do with it? Feminism’s double standards.”
Don’t read the comments unless you’re feeling really, really ready to see a bunch of MRAs mansplain why we shouldn’t believe the victim (“she only SAYS it was a man who attacked her, police haven’t confirmed it!”) and why this is really feminism’s fault for wanting special rights and not being “”“equalists”“” like their enlightened selves.
OKAY, FOLKS, THIS IS FUCKING SERIOUS.
One of my best friends lived in Kingston, and she’s one of the main organizers against the MRA group of campus. Since she and her friends have begun organizing against this group, she’s gotten threatening/sexually explicit phone calls, several people have been physically harassed, and there’s been at least one assault (I’m being vague by my friend’s request).
There is serious shit going down in Kingston right now, and the people who are speaking out against the MRA group on campus are not safe.
Please, do not let this stay under the radar. The campus MRA group may or may not be involved in the harassment, but they’re definitely attracting the people who are.
And for everyone time we’ve laughed at how ridiculous MRAs are, remember: they can, and do, fucking hurt people.

Fucking MRAs. Add this to the pile of damage they’ve done and people they’ve hurt. Boost the fuck out of this, people, so that everyone knows. These men are dangerous and hateful. The MRM is a hate movement and groups involved are hate groups.
