As for killing Feferi, to humans killing is wrong but in troll culture it is normal and looked down upon NOT to, and it was self defense. Your wrong, and clearly haven’t actually read a lot of the parts that have him in :v feferi admitted she was just using him, and Sollux kept harassing him with his black feelings continuously. Plus, Sollux challenged Eridan to the duel.

Sollux never once flirted black with Eridan. He hated him platonically. Eridan went to duel him and Sollux very likely beat him. He doesn’t like Eridan. He doesn’t black hate Eridan. Feferi, also, didn’t use him what the fuck are you on about.

I love Eridan but he himself stated he was RED for Feferi and was essentially using PALE as a stepping stone to try to get red with her when his actual PALE confessions usually went to Karkat or to Kanaya! He never discussed problems with Feferi unless she humoured him completely and he then brushed off any of her problems because he was selfish.

And yes, he was genocidal. It states it in his fucking intro.

He is a TROLL, not a HUMAN. I don’t care if he’s “twelve” in our terms, he wanted death machines to ruin trollkind even if he likely ended up self-sabotaging because yeah, many of those lowbloods he felt he was better than were people he considered friends.

Eridan was raised on a world where the highbloods rule and the lowbloods are to be servileto them. He believes this is how things should be because that’s how things are taught. He has excessive degrees of confidence and pride and his overly confident nature meant his world literally caved in on itself when Vriska ended their black romance by no longer keeping in touch with him (because she was bored and wanted more than he could provide, similar to how Mindfang stole the Dolorosa from Dualscar’s cargo and brainwashed her into pleasuring her before him just to make him hate her more and it didn’t work). Eridan believes he is perfection incarnate. When people break up with him, he doesn’t understand how it could have been him.

The “Eridan is desperate” trope comes from the fact he pursues a LOT of people despite their lack of interest because he has lost TWO QUADRANTS and for a troll that is almost suicide. He doesn’t see anything wrong with himself so he flirts because he believes people would be honoured to be with him and it’s a scummy thing to do since often he gives little to no shits about those people beyond making sure his quadrants are safe and secured.

Feferi didn’t use him. Sollux was neverblack for him. Yes, Sollux antagonized him at the end when he came out with his wand and talked about his plan to team up with Jack so they would live, but this doesn’t make Sollux the armpit stink of the universe. 

Eridan’s plan was initially: Team up with Jack. I don’t die. Feferi doesn’t die. Maybe the others won’t die but mostly this is for Feferi and I since she’s the Heiress and I really honestly do like her a lot. Eridan was upset with the break up but he was fine with her getting with Sollux even if it irritated him.He tried to kill Sollux because Sollux came at him as well. When he blasted Sollux into the wall, knocking him out, Feferi thought he’d gone mad, as his plan certainly seemed to be, and attempted to kill him, so Eridan killed her. His original plan was never to kill anyone. It was to convince them hope was lost and to join Jack. When the trolls rebelled against his idea, they became beacons of Hope, which he DESTROYED. He destroyed the Matriorb because it was HOPE. He killed people because they HOPED. That is IT. And he even shows signs of regretting it!

This eventually lead to him trying to kill whoever he came across since ALL OF THEM HAD HOPE and he had NONE. His only source of hope was in the belief that being the villain meant living. That was it. It was a gamble and he lost.

Is Eridan scum? No. He’s a tragic character. He’s hilarious. He’s a douchebag. But he’s capable of being a friend when he’s not being a miserable lump of conflicting feelings about hating lowbloods as he was raised to and being friends with them.

Please don’t ERASE all of the shit Eridan has done because “you like Eridan.” Don’t say “fuck Eridan” but for God’s sake don’t make him a pweshus babu dumpling.

The only person who hates that more than me is likely Eridan himself.

Eridan wanted to be respected and feared as the Orphaner Dualscar himself was.If anything, him going down at least as a respected villain would make him a little more content than going down as “that poor baby who everyone ganged up on for no reason ablublublublu”

Besides, he himself apologizes to Feferi in death. He’s obviously had a good long time to think about the shit he’s done while being amalgamated with Sollux and thus seeing himself from Sollux’s viewpoint.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he became a better troll for it, because he really was a jerk before, even if he has his moments.
