There had always been a Baggins in Bag End. More to the point, there had always been a Baggins. Bilbo Baggins had been there from the beginning, since before the small folk crossed the Misty Mountains and before the great Drowning of the West.

Dragon!Bilbo AU in which Bilbo is transformed into a Hobbit by Yavanna towards the end of the War of Wrath and is commanded to live amongst her children. Thousands of years later Gandalf ventures to the shire expecting to find a grandchild of Bilbo (whom he had met some decades before) to recruit as a burglar, and instead finds Bilbo himself, and on the same garden bench, no less!
