Accurate post is accurate.
Reminds me of the time a lady told me whip doesn’t melt. Or a guy yelled at me for not understanding him/hearing him because he kept talking on the phone
Lame
For those in retail.
I worked in a Lil Caesars and a woman came in and wanted a sausage pizza with no sausage, but got mad when she was given a cheese pizza.
So when I worked at fitting room in Old Navy, a woman told me that a medium top was too small, and that the large top was too large. So she asked me to find her an “x-medium”. Old Navy carries x-small, small, medium, large, x-large, 1x, 2x and 3x. There is no “x-medium”. But she insisted, so I went and found her an “x-medium” (which was just a medium in a different color but the same top, same make, same EVERYTHING) and she goes very happily, “THIS! THIS FITS ME PERFECTLY! THANK YOU SO MUCH! See, you can do anything you can set your mind to!”
I’m a waitress at a big fancy resort, and once a woman asked me for a diet water and when I told her there was no such thing she demanded to see my manager (who then also promptly told her there was no such thing and brought her regular water).
Another occasion of stupidity occurred when a woman had been brought a steak cooked too much for her liking. I offered to take it back and bring her out a new one, cooked a little less, and she said “NO this one’s fine I just want you to cook THIS one a little less.” I then had to get the chef and have him explain why you can’t UNCOOK a steak. When I was working at dunkin donuts there was this woman in the drive-thru who asked for a lightly toasted croissant and then started complaining that the croissant was warm. And wanted her money back, so she gave me the croissant back and I gave her the money and then she tells me “now i want my new croissant” she wanted a new one for free and as she was screaming at me this guy in a biker gang covered in tattoos leans over the counter in the store and yells “ma’am let me just tell you what we’re all thinking. fuck off, you stupid cunt.” I couldn’t stop laughing and she drove away in anger.
Most of the people like in the stories above know that they’re being totally irrational, but also know that if they complain enough they’ll most likely get something free or discounted. So really most of the the nonsensical fucks are actually just cheap fucks with no shame or respect for people.
ive been working in food service since i was 15 so ive got hundreds of stories but probably the best one involved the infamous starbucks cappuccino. anyone here who is/has been a barista probably already knows where this one is going. starbucks cappuccinos are espresso shots and basically all foam. but when you order a “cappuccino” from oh lets say a gas station, youre pretty much just getting a vanilla latte. so this one time a woman comes in a orders a cappuccino. i make it for her the way starbucks makes it. she storms back in, removes the lid, scoops out a hand full of foam and throws it on the counter screaming at me for “ripping her off”. my manager tried explaining to her this is how cappuccinos are made and what she was probably looking for was a vanilla latte. we gave her a vanilla latte, called it a cappuccino, she sipped told me this is how you properly make a cappuccino proceded to call me a “burn out idiot” and left the store. the woman called the district manager on me to try and get me fired and even sent a letter to headquarters about the incident. she apparently was refunded for her drink and got a gift card plus free drink coupons as an apology. i didnt loose my job but it was put on my review as a negative which lowered my raise even though my manager said i did nothing wrong. moral of the story, the customer is almost always wrong and you will get screwed for it one way or another.
I work at a movie theater. I’ve had customers tell me to “drown their popcorn” with butter and while I give them extra butter I don’t actually go overboard with it because for one thing it’s considered a safety hazard, and later they’ll return for their refill and hand me a butter-soaked tub and ask for “more butter this time”.
ok so im just gonna reblog and add to this pile of stories because lets face it working/handling other people’s food is harder for employees because we have to deal with people wanting it a particular way and they are super anal about it….its just all around terrible ok
but anyways, i’ve been working at dunkin donuts for about 3 summers now every time i go back its always something THATS for sure….but 1 particular lady in the store amazed me that someone can be so rude just to get something free (first time experiencing it….)
So basically from 5am - 10am is rush hour for all the business men getting their morning food going on before work and working the register (only) a non-morning person customer comes to my register and orders a breakfast burrito. now let me tell you when u come to dunkin donuts for a BURRITO dont expect much because its a DONUT place that serves breakfast foods ok… I ring her up and she gets her food. leaves. comes storming back 5 mins later shoving everyone else in line out of the way, interrupts the customer i am serving to tell me that i ripped her off—the burrito is too small. i tell her that thats the size it is and its always been…shes yelling at me like she expected a chipotle sized breakfast burrito and im mind blown like wow maybe you shouldnt come to a DONUT SHOP for a BREAKFAST BURRITO????? after finishing her rant she tosses the burrito on the counter, my boss refunds her money and instead of her LEAVING (mind you the customer i was helping IS STILL FUCKING THERE WAITING TO FINISH THE ORDER) she tells me to get her another brkfst sandwich…..my boss tells her the total and she makes a BIGGER SCENE about how she had to pay for this sandwich when she should get it for free for the small burrito..
like HOLY SHIT we give you the correct order and the standard size and its not good enough so u deserve the free food when we did nothing wrong!? AHAHAHA WOOOOW
i literally told her to either pay for the 3.59 sandwich she wants or to kindly step aside so i can finish the other ladies customer because im not dealing with that (the lady in line was nice enough to let her go too like jesus). luckily that rude lady left but HOLY FUCK FOOD SERVICE SUCKS SO PLEASE BE KIND TO THE FOOD SERVICE EMPLOYEES??? idk unless their total dicks about it ya know? but stillim so sorry you guys have to deal with such terrible people
Since it seems like this is a good opportunity to do story time, and I’m yet to ever reblog this image [thanks goes to my boyfriend for reblogging it for me on my behalf knowing the shit I deal with] I figure I’ll tell a story to my followers to keep this train going:
i work for Mcdonalds - have for almost going on a year now. Aside from horrible turn over rates, favoritism, and just blatant idiocy - here’s the other norm I have to also constantly work with: stupid customers along with fellow co-workers and management. This isn’t saying I’m tooting my own horn to make me sound better by default, no no. We have a place that is supposed to be EOE (equal opportunity employer) but people treat those who have very small disability as if they’re much more disabled than they are. They treat those without any disability whatsoever (if they’re not a favorite) of the same accord. Throwing this nonsense in with the customers who will try to constantly get free food, are rude, and just generally assholes and there you have it - this is why just about ANYONE can work for Mcdonalds’ (No surprise)
We are always short handed, never cross-trained, and the general lack of common sense is astonishing. Last week we had a water-main break (I’m presuming from the constant cold) and from this trouble began what was not only our store (along with other nearby businesses) having to close early. Yet the remainder of the week left (thank god it happened mid-week) having to use pump sinks you’d find at county fairs in the bathroom and pouring soda out of 2-liter bottles. This is how desperate Mcdonalds is to NEVER close (which is bizarre as my Mcdonalds is franchise).
We had no working water.
It’s during (or just around) dinner rush.
Manager on shift REFUSED to close.
Even though other restaurants near by had since done so, she simply REFUSED.
It’s sad when you have crew having to remind MANAGEMENT about OSHA and how if we refused to close it was highly probable that the store owner would probably get fined something fierce.
After this hell ensued, we finally close for the night and proceed to close for the rest of the week early. In all of this mess, customers could simply NOT understand why it was we went without water.
“We had a water-main break an—"
"A water what?"
"It got cold, a pipe broke, we have no working water.”
“…so can I get my large sweet tea or what?”
“We do not have tea, anything that has water we do not currently have”
“How do you have soda?”
“We literally bought every two liter of coke beverage the local Walmart had to offe—”
“THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE GOT SWEET TEA”
Upon telling management of the general rude customers that would ensue, I am told that: “This problem is nothing. We’re raking in so much business since the other stores are closed you should feel lucky to even HAVE a job!”
….
We should have also closed.
We should not have been pouring 2-liter bottles with little to no ice into cups.
Why did we have pump-sinks in the bathrooms?
What did they do with them once the water was restored and able to be used???
It will forever be a mystery.
Ah like the guy who demanded a black cappuccino and screamed at me when I explained that it wasn’t something that...
Once had to explain to a guy that the delivery for the thing he wanted was due to come in Wednesday and he turns to me...
this is why i like my job’s policy on free shit: no. there are three circumstances when i might have to make somebody...
