Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much time, money and effort people have put in to make ROTG for us?
The film is 97 minutes long and costs $145 000 000.
That means every 1 minute of ROTG cost $1 494 845.
That means every 1 second of ROTG costs $24 914.
It took ROTG 1080 days to go from the start of production to its United State’s release. (From November 2009 when the director and playwright was hired to November 2012.)
That means it took 11 days (264 hours) of effort to make 1 minute of film time for us.
That means it took 4.4 hours of effort to make 1 second of film time for us.
So for every second of ROTG you watch, it cost $24 914 to make and 4.4 hours of effort. Effort put in by the producers, by the director, by the editors, by the script writers, by the storyboard artists, by the sound crew, by the animators, by the soundtrack composers, by the guys who drew up the posters, by the promotional team etc.
Every single little detail, gesture, emotion, shadow, and background object costs an absolute bomb to make. That’s why when people criticize my posts (and other people’s posts) for over-analyzing a scene, I get furious. The 500-1000 words of analysis and the simple 1 second action of clicking like or reblog is nothing compared to the tens of thousands of dollars (or even hundreds of thousands of dollars) put into that scene.
And also, when people say that its stupid to go crazy over something that is not ‘real’, just remind them that ROTG is not just pixels on a screen, but the product of $145 000 000 worth of money and 1080 days worth of time and effort.
That’s all.
