sometimes I feel weird not being in the general age demographic for Pokemon, but then I hear things like this from little kids

Story time!

I used to work as an after school staff member for elementary schoolers. A lot of the kids were pretty rowdy and difficult to control, but one day a kid talked to me about pokemon. I told him all about the old days of pokemon back when there were only 151 and I taught him some useful battle strategies.

The next day I had a crowd of little kids following me and calling me the “Pokemon Master” and it was so great. Whenever I needed the kids to settle down (to like, clean up or move indoors or something) I would only have to begin speaking and then all the kids would whisper to one another silly things like “Be quiet! The Pokemon Master is speaking! You have to listen!”

In hindsight it’s kind of cultish, but it was a lot of fun. The kids were able to relate to me a lot more than the other adults because we had a shared interest, and that alone was enough to keep them behaved. Plus, the kids seemed to really enjoy it!
