what’s making me most irritated about this is that in the pictures from this post, the screenshots are literally from the moment after gaga finished speaking and everyone is waiting for the translator to transcribe back what she said. they’re not fed up with her, they’re not annoyed, they’re literally just waiting.

Lady Gaga is literally IN Japan on a Japanese music show performing for Japanese fans and chose to incorporate legitimate contemporary Japanese fashion culture into her own style, and the only time she’s had “other human being carry her places” was for performance pieces like the Grammys arrival, where everyone carrying her was a paid dancer.

What Katy Perry did was racist because it blended Chinese, Thai, and Korean elements and called it “Japanese,” perpetuating this idea that all Asian cultures are interchangeable and homogenous, and also due to the fact that the dancers in the performance were in mock-kabuki yellowface makeup and executed choreography that simulated stunted “Japanese walking,” both of which are pretty pervasive and wildly inaccurate racial stereotypes.

Keep those slurs out of your mouth when talking about women and educate yourself about minority representation and cultural diffusion. It will get you far.
