Tragedy strikes.

teafortrouble:

Sugar has a terrible habit of eating things she shouldn’t; usually she’ll sneak her way over to something that isn’t, technically speaking, meant to go in the mouth of a toddler and make said ‘something’ do precisely that.

Today, though, she got clever.

She went over to the cats’ dishes with her cookie, deposited it next to the dishes, and took a handful of cat food in exchange. She traded with them.

Here’s the thing, though. The cats spurned her offer, and now there is half a cookie sitting, otherwise untouched, on the table next to the cat food.

It looks strangely forlorn. It looks as if it is going to abide the passing of ages, from now unto the very End of Days, a silent, delicious, sentry.

No one will ever know the cookie’s story unless we, the few, the informed, pass it on.
