Cecil is actually a minor god. He makes up the news as he goes along and reality just bends around his words so it looks like he’s omniscient. Originally Night Vale had been created as a calm little town, but he soon grew bored of the normality and it morphed into what it is now. Steve Carlsburg gets so much hate because he doesn’t play along like everyone else does and it ruins Cecil’s fun. What a spoilsport.
