Some words from Aaron and Justin about diversity in our storytelling!

VLD should take some notes

THe original post was so nice, of course assholes in Voltron fandom had to come along and ruin it.

Voltron doesn’t have to “Take some notes” at all. Voltron is a show full of racial diversity. It is a show that has a canon gay male character as a lead. It increased the number of women from the original canon and gave them all interesting roles to play.

Voltron also has a canonically disabled man whose story involved him facing discrimination, refusing to back down from it, and ending up as one of the defenders of the universe.

It is a diverse show period.  It doesn’t need to learn anything from The dragon prince, which is a good show in its own right.

And while I see you crying wolf about “queerbaiting.” there was no queerbaiting in voltron. Shiro is still gay. There’s no queerbaiting. It’s not an opinion. It’s a fact.

Also:

let me assure you that you once you post something like this:

You don’t have a single solitary right to ever complain about diversity after posting this bullshit. You support the continual harassment of Bex, an actual queer person, over a goddamn cartoon. Your opinions about diversity are invalid based on that alone.

You love how it treats her name like a swear word. And you think you have a right to ever pretend you give a damn about diversity.

Nah, you don’t.

Anyway, your voltron wank is based upon lies, a fundamental inability to understand that words have real meanings and you keep misusing them because your favorite characters and dumb crack ships didn’t become canon, and continual harassment of real life gay people (Bex isn’t the only one. Do you support the harrassmen t of david gaider and kevin wada? )

All because you don’t fucking understand the indention of queerbaiting.

Anyway,  if you need to put Voltron down in order to praise another show, then you don’t truly enjoy the other show. You just want to be an asshole about the other fandom.
