In the future, they might keep things this way. Josh mentioned in his latest panel that he didn't want anyone asking questions about ships. Bex was probably okay with the shipping but noped out of it thanks to the shoe discourse. Of course Lauren or someone who has her contact info likely told her not to engage in the Voltron fandom when it comes to relationships anymore. Barlee told fans at Ax that she can't draw anymore ships on her twitter anymore. It's a process but they're really doing it.
