in today’s culture and vocabulary “homophobia” means that a person does not agree that homosexuality is a valid identity in our society. the root word “phobia” is null and void. so the op stands. if you are “flipping out” over the presence of a queer couple, you are a homophobic in the most relevant societal definition of the word.
