one thing abt the experience of low-wage/service workers that i think often isnt stressed enough is the total lack of privacy and how much your actions are watched. like the feeling your supervisor is watching you at all times, getting in trouble for leaning against a counter/checking your phone every time someone sees you, constant surviellence for you how you conduct yourself, employees being encouraged to tell their supervisor if another employee isn’t acting “professional” enough––all of those things are absolutely soul crushing. it’s literally like a panopitcon environment for some people working at cash registers and suchlike.
