Bruce, what the hell did he do to you? The forced romance, the bastardisation of your characterisation, making you an asshole who does stupid science without thinking of repercussions, and this? Seriously, no. NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOO.

Fun fact: Bruce Banner is one of my favourite Marvel characters. Bruce Banner is complex and layered and emotionally shattered. Bruce Banner’s father was an abusive bastard who traumatised him to the degree that he repressed absolutely every emotion for fear of turning into the same kind of man, to the degree that people believed he didn’t give a crap about anything. Bruce Banner’s whole life is about fighting against the impulse to hurt people, because he doesn’t want to be like his father was.

But sure, let’s just say he’d threaten to strangle a child. Let’s go with that. In the same world where the man who deplores violence and weapons carries a massive effing gun and doesn’t respond to comfort or reassure a woman who says she’s a broken monster, it makes sense.

I partially get this perspective and honestly can’t speak for the comics, but -

Wanda’s a grown woman (I mean, young enough to be his kid, but the actress is in her mid-twenties) who was - however inadvertently - working for a genocidal maniac robot intent on global destruction, and in doing so willfully and knowingly mind-fucked Bruce so he completely lost control of himself and Hulk went on a massive rampage throughout a civilian area and caused a shitton of damage and maybe some casualties.

I dunno, man. I think the most pacifistic person in the world would be pretty enraged at that point.

I love the way you people always complain about how AOU bastardized the characters just because circumstances did things to them that made them act “out of character”. Just ask yourself: “What would I do?”

Because if I’d been mind raped to the point of nearly killing an entire city, I think I’d be a little more than pissed at the person who made me do it. And you’re saying he should forgive and forget? Really? Just because he’s mostly a pacifist? Have you ever seen what happens when you push a quiet person to the brink? It ain’t pretty.

Like, it’s fine if you all want a bunch of stoic, emotionless badasses who never change, but that’s boring to me. I LIKED what they did to Bruce and Nat. They made them human. And I may be one of about three people who do.

People are forgetting that Bruce DOES NOT like becoming The Hulk.  He hangs back from fights unless needed, he needs to be emotionally and physically isolated afterwards.  Becoming the Hulk is a VIOLATION for him, it is traumatizing.

Do you really think Banner left Widow for no reason?  She forced him to become the Hulk, she betrayed him, which contributed to him leaving her behind.

Add in to the fact that even THE HULK realized he fucked u, just prior to being knocked out by Tony, the damage done, the horror he inflicted.

What Scarlet Witch did was effectively raped Banner through proxy via Hulk.  She forcefully changed him, violated him.  Do people not understand the fucking subtext of Banner’s entire story in this film?
