Harley and Joker have been together since day 1! You can’t just split them up bc Harley suddenly likes Ivy now! They’re old canon! No one wants to see two women in a relationship anyway their just put together so peple can see them makeout

Um, lmao, okay but here’s the thing

So

Ivy?

Literally from the first episode they’re in together, they’re already at the point of wearing no pants, putting pictures on the fridge, and basically being domestic and already married.

(Hawt face there, Ives)

Why can’t they be canon?

Kindly get out of here with your homophobia, pal. Let the big kids read their comics.

“harley and ivy can’t be together because i prefer super abusive straight relationship rather than healthy f/f one” holy fucking shit, anon

Harley/Ivy isn’t the reason Harley should split up with Joker, since the authors confirmed, along with canonizing the Harley/Ivy ship, that Harley wasn’t about exclusive relationships. They basically said she’s poly.

Harley should split up with Joker because HE’S A FUCKING ABUSIVE ASSHOLE

Oh yeah

Ivy and Harley are totally

thing they got going here

In all reality, Harley and Ivy’s relationship is just as bad as Harley and Joker’s so you all need to wake up from your fantasy land

Okay, but here’s the thing, and I’m not sure you’re ready to hear this, so here we go:

Comic books are a fucked up continuity.

It’s the ONLY form of entertainment where you can PICK and CHOOSE how you choose to view your favorite characters based on universe and author.

One story about Superman does not necessarily hold true for another story about Superman.

Yes, Ivy has been written as abusive to Harley in the past (though that was not how their story starts off, I add), but their dynamic is often written as close and co-conspiratorially. And, very often, Ivy tries to talk Harley into leaving the Joker, or risks her neck to save her.

I’ve never seen a universe where Joker places Harley before himself, but I’ve seen universes where Ivy has.

One being in the Harley Quinn comics before the reboot, where Ivy literally takes a BULLET for Harley.

From Joker.

A bullet meant for Harley, but Ivy was dressed as Harley, and no, Joker was not aware it was Ivy whatsoever.

In nearly every universe, Joker is abusive to Harley. Ivy is abusive occasionally, but often written supportively (albeit usually grumbling along the way).

You are probably saying to yourself “but they’re villains!”

And? Harley is marketed at young women and young GIRLS more often than you think. You can’t market a character at children and have the same character tortured and hauled around by the hair as Joker has done in the past. In areas of MEDIA EASILY CONSUMED BY CHILDREN.

This is why I’m so happy that, despite its flaws, Harley is more often than not standing on her own two feet, separated from Joker in the New52. And I hope it stays that way from now on.

One day, Harley’s time with the Joker will be her ORIGIN story.

I only hope I’m around to see it.
