The funniest thing is that killbenedictcumberbatch was actually wrong; if you light up a dim bulb and then shine a light thru it, the filament clearly has a shadow. The match flame doesn’t light up the section of wall the flame would cast its shadow on any more than it does the section of the wall that the match does cast its shadow on. It just so happens that, unlike a light bulb filament, the glowing gas/plasma/particulates produced by a burning match are invisible.
