I’m so angry about that sentence. Her name is pronounceable. All names are. My name is so easy to pronounce but I’ve gone through 2 decades of “What? Amelia? Amia? Ameener?” It’s Ameena. Said how it looks. With emphasis on the mean because I’m a huge bitch that’s tired of white people being clueless about things like this. And don’t get me started on my last name and 2 years of being called a ridiculous name because white supremacist standards can be perpetuated by even little black children who’ve been poisoned by it.

Quavenzhane is easy to pronounce. Little black and brown children have beautiful names and if you cannot wrap your lips around them and then blame the child you are a terrible and racist person. The only thing is white people went from naming slaves John, naming a native boy put in catholic school away from his parents Henry, from laughing at names like Latchmi when your people entered india, to this; to laughing at the names of black and brown children and asking why its so hard to pronounce instead of asking how to pronounce it. The same thing applies for most students, because the physical description we’ve been given is not fucking enough to tell. Also, canonically, we have indian twins, black Dean Thomas, Blaise Zabini, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Angelina Johnson, asian Cho Chang, and a shit ton of other poc!characters or characters of unknown heritage/colour.
