The racist imagery in this game was completely unnecessary and I bet they did it to be controversial on fucking purpose without any regard to how that would make people feel. Or with regard, but not for any concern more so than their own shits and giggles.

Like this game could have been just as good without the overblown racist imagery of Black people.

It wasn’t “unnecessary.” Racism isn’t something that needs to be explained subtly. The game is purposefully doing the opposite of what mass media today does: it’s not sugarcoating it. Columbia as a city is meant to represent the absolute worst of American history and American society, and that is exactly why it doesn’t hold back punches. A lot of our media likes to white wash history and dance around issues of racism in the very concepts of what it means to be American, but this game actually goes out of its way to show how unethical this ideology is. 

The game actually does a great job of pointing out problems in our social foundations of racism, sexism, corporate capitalist abuse, religious zealotry. I often hear other P.O.C. on Tumblr complain that the media is skewed to avoid making American and white history in general look bad. If anything, people should play this game, because it doesn’t pretend like American society is perfect: it’s a game that takes the concepts that built this nation and pushes them to extreme to show how morally depraved they really are.

Columbia isn’t there for the player to like, and its citizens aren’t there for the player to want to emulate. It’s actually there as an example of exactly what is wrong with white colonialism, racism, xenophobia, white supremacist attitudes, etc.

This game is actually being attacked by white supremacists because they think it’s “anti-white,” since the game doesn’t pander. It’s brutal about its portrayal, but for a reason. A good reason.

I’d also like to add that the games setting was a floating city full of white supremacists and ran by a cult leader in 1910ish America. The fuck were some of you expecting in a setting like that???

You people really need to read more about the games, watch videos about the games, or really just do any sort of research before you go off saying “hurr durr it’s racist, the game is trying to offend and be edgy!”

I’ll start with “you should have read the fucking post”. I didn’t put nude photos online, I sent pictures to a close friend of mine trusting her to use them as we had agreed for a diet program we were on. This whole fiasco is the first I’ve heard from her in months.
Next let’s go to his requests. When he first messaged me he wanted nudes. Said we could “start clothed ;)” so I deleted the convo and ignored him. It was stupid not to save it but I didn’t anticipate this. Next thing I know he’s blackmailing me, you think he was “teaching me a lesson”?? As if once I gave in he wouldn’t ask for more? You think him threatening me is ok so long as his first demand seemed reasonable to you? Put yourself in my shoes, you know a stranger has a private photo of you and will release them against your will, do you a) send him more pictures of you so he can have a ton of pieces tying you to the problem or b) tell him to fuck off?

Florida Cop Literally Just Shot Unarmed African American With His Hands Up, Begging Not To Be Shot | Counter Current News

Another Florida police officer has shot an unarmed African American. This time, the Florida officer shot and critically wounded a 28-year-old man early Monday during an investigation into a stolen car in Orlando.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings had little to say about the case besides this, but witnesses claim that the victim, Cedric Bartee, literally had his hands up, begging Sergeant Robert McCarthy not to shoot.

Bartee had his hands in the air, but in spite of this damning detail, during a press conference Monday, Demings said, “I ask everyone to not rush to judgment and allow the investigation to be completed.”

Demings said that “because of the backdrop of everything happening in the country at this time… It’s concerning to me” how people might react to this shooting of an unarmed African American with his hands literally up in the air when he was shot.

Demings came to the defense of Sergeant McCarthy, saying that he only shot Bartee because he failed to comply with police commands. Apparently, this has now become the criterion for when police can use lethal force, even though it has no legal basis.
