Can you imagine what it must have been like growing up for George and Fred. Notice how I said George and Fred because we always call them ‘Fred and George’ as if they were one person - just like their mum. Their own family couldn’t tell them apart. They didn’t have perfect grades like Percy. They weren’t as cool as Bill or Charlie. They weren’t the youngest male like Ron and they obviously weren’t female like Ginny. So they created a niche for themselves - The Pranksters. Because if people weren’t even going to bother to tell them apart then they were going to make people pay attention by pranking people and acting out. Then some scruffy looking boy in their younger brother’s year (ickle Harrikins) can tell them apart.
There’s a reason George Weasley and Fred Weasley never pranked Harry Potter - because he’s the only one that bothered to try.
Leelah’s final wish was for everything she had to go towards transgender charities. Due to the circumstances it’s doubtful her parents will follow through with her wishes. Please consider donating to places like TransOhio, Kaleidoscope Youth Center, or Trans Lifeline in her honor.
god. the more I learn about north korea, in a weird way the more I understand dystopia novels. because one of the questions that always plagues me when I read dystopias is like “how is the rest of the world? are they okay? are they in on it? are they just ignoring it? what’s going on?”
Leelah Alcorn was a 17 year old transgender woman artist. She grew up in a very religious Christian family. When she came out as trangender to her parents they told her it was a phase and sent her to therapy. The therapies they sent her to were religious ones that told her things like god makes no mistakes, told her she was selfish, and that the only way to cure depression was to follow gods path. She came out as “gay” at school so people wouldn’t be as shocked when she came out as trans. Her friends were accepting but her parents called her an embarrassment. They took away all electronics for 5 months and kicked her out of public school.
She was an artist. he drawing above was drawn by her.
She committed suicide on December 29th due to the transphobia caused by her family. Please remember her and the other transgender people how lose their lives to transphobia.
