this show is on a whole other level

It weird how people reblog this and just accept it as some ‘deep’ quote without even challenging it. I’m not saying this because I feel like Pearl is mocking my humanity personally but because we know for a fact that the gems have very prejudice views of human.

The crystal gems see humans as inferior to them and you see that throughout the show. They don’t bother to learn the technological, try to understand their lives, or even the laws require to live with them. Everything about the human lifestyle is either weird or beneath them so why bother? The only personal interaction the gems even have with humans is usually because of Steven (either because he wants to go to a fair,festival, play volleyball or etc). So, with that being sad why do people seem to trust Pearl views on human society. She has never really bothered to learn about them in the first place, so where is this ‘profound’ information coming from. 

To me this doesn’t really come off as deep. Instead I say it shows off a flaw in the gem’s character. This whole spill sounds like something about a group of people you don’t think highly of another. “Why do they do the things they do. Oh, it’s obviously because they have nothing better to do with their lives”

this quote honestly speaks volumes about pearl’s arrogance/ the arrogance of gemkind at large, and how forgone the crystal gems are without rose’s guidance. it is a valid deconstruction of conspiracy theory, butthis isn’t the show’s message at all.

it’s just unbelievable to me that people are hailing this attitude as The Deepest Quote in su. rose quartz dedicated her life to protecting those “short, boring, insignificant lives.” she gave up her existence to bring a human being into the world, because she believed they were worth dying for. pearl’s comment sounds like something straight out of their enemies’ mouths. imagine rose quartz saying this, and then tell me this is the Profound Insight su is advocating for.

so clearly rose had a lot of love for humans and the complexity of their lives and feelings and experiences. amethyst seems to show inklings of this—she loves human practices like eating and sleeping and adventures. garnet kinda goes back and forth, it’s hard to say yet. it’s kinda sad that pearl seems to have such an opposing viewpoint with someone she loved so much.
