what if one day tumblr decided to reveal all anon messages
I have a story!!!
One time someone from my school made this confession page on Twitter that you could text and it would immediately post on the Twitter page, completely anonymously. It spread really quickly and everyone knew by the second day it was going on. Some awful things were being said on it, I mean literally no one was spared. No one had any clue who was running it and they wouldn’t filter any messages. The school board got so sick of this account that they contacted authorities to see what they could do to shut it down, but since it wasn’t affiliated with the school, technically, they couldn’t shut it down.
So, this went on for four days, just awful messages being posted about one another with no clue who was posting them (as anyone could text the number to send in). Then came the finale which changed everything. At eight, they would accept any DMs and post them, any texts, and then post them all at once at midnight. Everyone was rushing to send in their confessions, and like 100 or so came in.
Midnight comes. Messages flood in. Then the owner posts something a little weird, along the lines of, ‘Nothing was anonymous after all’. And posts a fUCKING LINK WITH ALL THE NUMBERS AND THE MESSAGES EACH POSTED AND SCREENSHOTS OF ALL DMS AND THE NEXT DAY THERE WERE LITERALLY FIVE DIFFERENT FIGHTS
i wonder if my pets have like a proper language and when i try to speak back to them im just speaking jargon
like for example my cat always speaks to me when I come home and i meow back to her and she’ll meow again & even though i don’t think twice about it to her it’s probably a situation where it’s like
Person 1 is standing outside a Woolworths (or woolies for short) supermarket (an Australian dystopian grocery monopoly) hurriedly smoking a cigarette (or durry/duzza) when the youth generally employed by Woolworths (trolly boy/guy) to collect their shopping carts (trollies) from the car park asks person 1 “what’s going on friend” (s'koin on or s'carn on is a contraction of “what’s going on). To which person 1 who is in a hurry replies with a disgruntled “fuck off”, which I’m sure everyone understands.
it would suck being a new immortal. like it’d be 2109 and people would go, “what was it like seeing ancient civilizations rise and fall like that? seeing the pyramids being built? watching the expansion and growth of the new world?” and i’d just be like, “no…no i was born in 1991. so like, wow i’m gonna see some cool stuff, but, i mean i’m not that much older than just a really, really old person, you know? phones were big back then. so big. but only for like ten years, then they got like, as good as they are now. uh. rhinos existed. don’t think i ever saw one in person. cool, good talk.”
What if Steven decides he wants to go to school? Like, its September and Connie has to go back to school and Steven’s like “well, if Connie’s going i want to go too.” Think of the possibilities:
–Steven and Connie riding in every day on Lion
–Steven not understanding why he has to STAY SEATED for so long
–Steven frowning during history lessons because “thats not how Pearl said it was”
–Steven making friends by telling stories about Gem stuff during recess (no one believes him until the Gems show up to pull him for a mission)
–the Crystal Gems trying (and failing) to make sack lunches for Steven in the mornings, so eventually Mr. Maheswaran takes pity and packs one for him along with Connie’s
–PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES WITH ALL THREE GEMS AND GREG
–the principal becoming more and more frustrated every time the Gems pull Steven out to go on missions but being too intimidated by them to do anything about it
ok but you’re missing the most important possibility: pta mom garnet
I think it’s actually been a serious blow to Hussie to spend so much time on break. I’m glad he took time for himself to catch up and I wouldn’t want anyone to push themselves too far. If he needed it, then he should have taken it. That’s non-negotiable.
However, I think it’s really hurt the reception of the story because no matter what, any fast paced story-telling is going to seem out of place and disjointed now. People are balking at this upd8 because it’s so “out of place” and seems very deux ex machina when in theory it’s about time for some clever fast-paced montage. The problem is, having a year off gave people a long time to solidify their own headcanons, predictions, even to forget the pace and voice of canon. I myself have had lines blurred between what I’ve seen in canon and what I just liked in fanworks.
Perhaps the most bothersome thing I’ve come across is after the Gigaupd8 I’ve seen people complain that the cast is acting OOC. Shouldn’t the AUTHOR have final say on what is OOC or not? This is again coming from the fact that people have fully decided that their faves act a certain way and this is why. It’s set in stone for them now. They’ve forgotten these are a bunch of kids who are still malleable and can still make mistakes or maybe even change their minds once in a while.
In short, let the story continue as it should have without throwing a fit if something doesn’t sit right with you - ships, characterizations, events, whatever. Hussie’s done a brilliant job so far of explaining things and fleshing them out in due time if it’s relevant. Please try to remember that and keep an open mind, especially now that we’re in the final stretch.
According to NASA’s new report, California only has enough water to get it through the next year. People are under strict water-saving measures; farmers are struggling to keep their crops alive. Yet, Nestlé is bottling water from at least ten natural springs throughout California, including from some of the most drought-stricken areas of the state, and selling it for profit. In places like Sacramento, it’s paying less than $0.14 per gallon. This is bananas.
I haven’t seen any posts on tumblr about this kid, but you may have seen this going around twitter. He’s received an absurd amount of hate for supporting women, as well as a lot of love (as he obviously deserves!) Let’s keep this movement going!
reblogging because i also think this is really important for trans boys who might get their periods suddenly and not be prepared. like have your bro’s back. how cool is that?
Women are fertile for an average of 40 years. They have their period every 28 days. That makes a total of 521 times. Women bleed for an average of 5 days. That makes a total of 2607 days, or about 7 years. Again, women bleed for 7 years. On average a woman loses about 150ml of blood during every period.
That makes 391 liters of blood in their life.
An average man has 6 liters of blood. It takes the blood of 65 men to measure up to one woman’s blood loss.
