something im curious about is whether other people consider shushing rude or not. in my household i was raised to find shushing, without a ‘sorry’ or a reason attached, or without it being super-soft and non-confrontational, the height of rudeness. like, saying ‘please be quiet’ and a reason was the way to go and if you shushed someone you were being extraordinarily impolite, maybe even mean. i’d definitely get in trouble for it if i ever did.
but it seems like that’s not the case for other people? is that common? i’m really curious as to how many people think its rude or not?
This is my submission for greyallison ‘s Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time zine!! My theme was the Shadow Temple, so I really wanted to incorporate the Dead Hand somehow, since it always seemed so horrifyingly out of place in a Zelda game…
I remember this one time in elementary school this guy flipped off this one girl during recess so the girl went up to this really scary teacher who was the recess monitor for that day and told her “I like your shirt” and then pretended that she actually told on him and told the guy “she said she wants to talk to you”, then the guy who flipped her off went to the recess monitor and was all “look I’m sorry I flipped her off” and the recess monitor was all “YOU DID WHAT?!”
and to this day I still think that girl is fucking genius for making the lil shit accidentally tell on himself

I’m Sopranish, and I need your help to keep fighting! This is an absolute last resort in aninsane situation. This family saved me when the system and my own didn’t. After all that, the City suddenly changed the laws about my housing! I hate to ask here. But “family don’t end with blood”, so I’mpraying. This is my only way to have any place to live. My brain continues to swell and collapse, and I’m in daily treatment I can only get here. I will not survive street homelessness and have nowhere and no one. The background: I am disabled, with a neuro condition called Pseudotumor Cerebrii I’ve had 6 years, and complications. Too much cerebrospinal fluid pressure builds up, especially on my optic nerve. I’ve at 24 surgeries, 6 small procedures, 3 devices, dozens of meds. I lost majorly in vision, balance, memory, hearing, motor ability, memory, and more. Last year a complication of fluid pressure changes made parts of my brain collapse and expand, push itself out of shape, force fluid out of my brain along my shunt device. I became sometimes non-verbal, unable to see, feel, or move, unable to think, unaware. And a times having to stay with physically abusive parents, until they moved away.
Tumblr helped me get into a place to live, and to a new neurosurgeon at the forefront of treatment and research! I immediately had 6 life saving surgeries.
Recently: However, the damage is done, and can’t be reversed. Including, now, seizures from over-stimulated nerves. Now I’m in daily treatment, for another 6 months, to keep it from worsening, and to learn somefunction. I can even walk or speak most days!
This is insanely expensive. Not just doctors. Cabs to and from, when medical rides don’t come (can be $90/ day, most days). Food (above Food Stamps). And a very few items of clothing- I’ve lost 160lbs, half my body, in a year and a half as part of treatment (almost done).
Last month the grant for my utilities- half my income- ended. A new one won’t start for another month.Last week we found there’s more damage in my brain than originally thought, after more seizures.
CRISIS POINT: Friday I got a letter. The City changed the laws on my housing, and my credit now needs to re-certify to have any low-income housing. Or I’m out of any, and can never again get any rent subsidy! City and Federal offices confirmed- the rule is written so no one at any level can get around it.
Except, because of the above and loss of that grant, I’ve had to run up creditcards, let bills pile up, and live on nothing just to live at all. And I was never able to remove some old wrong things.
I HAVE UNTIL MAY 5 TO PAY AN $8,000 SETTLEMENT TO RAISE MY CREDIT AND KEEP MY APARTMENT!!! (that’s my annual income!)
This credit requirement is part of why I was homeless so long, until kind peoplehelped! You got me into a safe, calm place where a staff takes great care of me! All my doctors agree it’s the safest place for my state, and it’s the best thing in my life. And I have no family, relationship, or anyone to go to. I’ve tried every public and non-profit office and option.
Every little bit helps! I’m happy to do whatever I can in return for any generosity!

Wow, this poor girl really could use a helping hand. Think about it: we’re all technically “broke,” but can $10 really break your bank?? That’s not 1, but 2 Starbucks drinks in exchange for someone to avoid becoming homeless.
