I’ve been seeing some posts claiming that Dirk doesn’t care about Calliope because of how apathetic he seemed when Caliborn said he killed her. Also that he wasn’t surprised she died because he knew Caliborn would predominate.
But this doesn’t really hold up. It’s not that Dirk prefers Caliborn over Calliope. It’s just that, unlike the other alpha kids, he considers both Calliope and Caliborn to be his friends.
