Ian Mercer, father of the man who killed nine people and wounded nine others at Umpqua Community College, spoke to CNN Saturday. In the interview Mercer called the event “devastating” and explained he was still trying to understand it, but he took the time to issue a passionate call for the U.S. to restrict access to firearms.
Well, we are allowed guns so that we are able to protect ourselves against the government (provided if it actually gets tyrannical and take away our rights) That is the reason for the gun rule in the Declaration of Independence (*cough* England *cough*) Although I agree that the crime rate would go down by a landslide, if tanks showed up at my street- I would want to protect myself •-•
wow are you really messaging me about that post i reblogged? haha alright
Can you all signal boost this?
Benji’s Closet was an organization dedicated to assisting transgender and other LGB+ individuals. We were a major resource, and we answered many questions a day from people who needed support, and now we have to start again from the beginning.
We’re doing this now under phoenixcollective, which I feel is a much better name regardless, but every reblog helps. staff has refused to get back to us in regards to our blog being taken down and we weren’t given a reason for it.
Hell, I’m hoping this gets big enough that staff is willing to give me a real explanation as to why almost half a year of work done by a team of people for charitable purposes was completely wiped off the site without any real help from them.
“But
if we’re going to constantly use mentally ill people to dodge conversations
about gun control, then the very least we owe them is a fucking plan.”
Don’t forget that it is not only used to dodge gun control, it is used to place blame. Even in the presidents speech seeking gun control he singled out mentally ill people.
