So for the past 12 days in honor of valentines day I’ve been making daily comics based off true stories
about making my ex cry during my toxic first relationship (”times my ex made me cry” would be…a much darker comic.) Plz enjoy, it was very cathartic for me to make!
At the makeup store I worked at we used to get men coming in w their wives/girlfriends and they would often scoff at everything and one time a guy maybe in his early 50s came in w his family and while his wife & daughter were looking around, he and his son stood near the counter and he was like “don’t you wish you were a boy? Haha!” and when I asked why he replied “then you wouldn’t have to waste time with all this useless stuff!” and then went on to be like ‘lol silly vapid women ur all so vain haha’ for a while. I got sick if it eventually and was like “yeah it is a waste of time, things would be much easier if we didn’t have to worry about makeup or boring stuff like doing our hair and shaving :)))) You should probably tell your wife not to bother anymore :) because it’s such a useless waste of time :)))” and suddenly he looked really concerned and he was like “oh but shaving is for hygiene! And I mean she ENJOYS all this stuff and…she looks nice so…” and babbled for ages about how not shaving is wrong and how he prefers how his wife looks when she puts “effort” into her appearance.
So like…he was all for mocking women for “wasting time on this useless stuff” and having a good ol’ laugh about how silly and vain women are bc it made him feel superior or whatever but panicked at the thought that his wife might not “put effort” into her appearance.
I fucking hate this about men. My father mocks me sometimes for being “vain” but then constantly goes on at me about how I need to go comb my “messy” hair and etc.

men absolutely expect women to “put effort into our appearance”, the part they don’t like is the part where they have to see it. This is also why men like ~natural girls who are still wearing makeup but with natural shades; you have to be beautiful but you can’t let them see that it takes time, effort, energy, money and labour
