i imagine getting my own place all the time and going down to the grocery store early in the morning before everyone else and to the coffee shop and having a really small place with wide windows and lots of plants and shelves of books and a tiny kitchen where i can make tea and noodles and a bed with a pile of blankets and just a place i can make uniquely my own or maybe a place i could share with someone but i just think about this place a lot idk

One of my professors is an extremely famous, well-known painter who has been in galleries since he was a young man in the 80s. He once asked me in class, “Alyssa, what are your dreams and aspirations for the future?”

You should have seen the puzzled look on his face when I described something similar to the post above.

“Why so humble?!” He laughed. “You know you’re talented, right? You could aspire to a lot more than that for sure.”

And I had to take that moment to explain to him that this is what my generation is given, this is how low our standards for happiness have to be. A humble existence, a small piece of the world for ourselves, and comfortable stability are just as out of reach for some of us as fame and reknown was for him in the 80’s. His face went somber immediately.

Sometimes I think about the future of self driving cars and how everyone I talk to about that future is like “okay but in an emergency we’ll be able to take back manual control, right?” and I usually placate them by saying, yeah, that’s totally how it’ll happen, but actually we’re already seeing the opposite. Cars with “self driving” features like steering and breaking that kick in and take control from the driver if the driver is about to rear end someone or is in a dangerous situation because the truth is computers can think faster and have better reflexes than us and I think about this going into the future and how if the self-driving cars are able to share their data with each other and learn from the driving experiences of every car on the road soon we’ll have cars that are so massively experienced at driving and avoiding accidents and making microsecond decisions and partial degree turns of the wheels and being so damn precise that automobile accidents will be almost unheard of and that’s when we’ll develop the most wasteful hilarious extreme sport in history where a single human driver will go up against an arena of ultra smart self driving cars and just by driving around recklessly try to coral them into crashing into each other and I tell you I would watch that sport all day.

okay let me tell you youngins a story back in the days of 2014 homestuck fandom

so this was around july,2014, when 4chan decided “hey, lets troll homestuck and post gore/porn in the tag, bash their ships, bash their fantrolls, and draw the mayor dead”

4chan fucking lost their minds because they couldnt upset us no matter how hard they tried, and SO many 4chan members got pissed, so they raided ALL of tumblr instead, rather then just homestuck.

tldr: 4chan tried to troll homestuck fandom, homestuck fandom too weird, 4chan babies got pissed off and raided all of tumblr instead. this is still so fucking funny to me 2 years later

I like Blacksad but damn its hella pretentious.

Also the fact that the artist refuses to draw woman as animalistic as men is irritating enough but it just gets more frustrating when the first two pages of the first issue is literally just nothing but giving the guy asspats for his “mastery of drawing expressive anthropomorphized animals” and im just like sure yeah but he cant draw a cat dude and a cat chick BOTH looking like cats because god forbid she isn’t sexy.

The only female characters so far to be drawn even REMOTELY as animalistic as their male counterparts are all characters playing cliche, ‘matronly’ female roles such as a teacher, secretary or maid.

Literally only ONE, ONE male character in the entire series so far has been drawn even remotely human looking and he wasn’t even a character he was a person on a movie poster in the background!!!

It’s just really grating tbh and reeks of vague, quiet sexism and it just irks me so much.

And it’s such a shame because the art really is GORGEOUS like its not like he lacks the ability (which in itself still isnt an excuse) it’s literally just because he can’t bring himself to ‘tarnish’ that wily feminine beauty am i right guys.

“social justice” in tumblr is a walking paradox tbh.. somebody gets dragged for something they said years ago when they did not know it was offensive towards a marginalized group like for it being racist, etc. then they make a long apology, completely own up to it saying it was something they did in the past or have learned. then some people will be saying the apology was insincere, “you’re making excuses” or “you’re only doing it cause you’ve been caught”. then everyone will be reblogging that person’s uploads, selfies telling them to kill themselves and insulting their appearance. even if that person who made an ignorant comment is 14 years old and asks a genuine question.. these adults will drag that kid to hell and out of this website. yes, google is a resource but if they know you’re more educated and ask a genuine question, then why don’t you help them get out of that ignorance glue. how are you going to shed light on social issues and educate people this way? okay so you might think it isnt your obligation to educate them but why dont you just tell them to look it up.. but to tell that person to kill themselves and making your circle of followers reblog your post dragging them and bully that person for being naive.. it’s twisted and fucked up
