Arrested for not possessing a valid drivers license, held in custody because she couldn’t make bail, “failure to receive adequate medical attention” is the reason of her death. On April 26th she was in a car accident and instead of taking her to the hospital they detained her. Died last Tuesday in police custody in the Walker County Jail in Huntsville,Texas. The same jail that killed #SandraBland. No one knows, no one is talking about this, no cause of death has been given, and even her hometown had no idea she was dead.
What’s her name???
Symone Marshall
The same jail as Sandra Bland? Are you fucking kidding me? How many black women do they have to kill before anyone cares??
You know, it feels like being black is now a crime.
I say this because of how many lives were taken for no good reasons at all. Lives taken because all a black person did was look at a cop funny or did something that could have easily been taken care of without the use of violence.
It’s like the old stereotype of black people hasn’t truly vanished and it’s fucking hurts. There’s still this label that’s been stuck to us which makes them think that we’re a threat.
What makes us less human than anybody else?
What makes us not deserving of the rights that we’re clearly entitled to?
Why make us fear being the person that we are? With beautiful skin and wonderful minds.
They take one look us and immediately think that we’re trouble but we’re not the issue, we were never the issue. And I get that there are matters where things do go wrong but that doesn’t give them the excuse to pull out a gun and end an innocent person’s life.
It shouldn’t even be a thought ever.
And it hurts because if it had been a white person, for instant, none of this would have happened to them.
Why must I fear being the person I am?
Why must I fear being black?
Because the cops out there aren’t ready to acknowledge us as human begins with human rights.
