This loosely translates as “there is no fundamental problem with this and I have no issue with the people who enjoy it but it makes me personally deeply uncomfortable”
“It’s not a trigger so I don’t want to appropriate that terminology; but I really don’t like it and don’t want to read/see/hear it.”
“it will not give me psychological distress but HOT DAMN I will die happy if I never see it again”
Its a chinese film about the great wall of china and white people JUST HAVE TO BE IN IT , That includes adjusting all of history concerning the great wall of china to how white people like it.
It’s not about the Great Wall of China, it’s a fantasy movie, there’s nothing historical about it. Just because it has the title “The Great Wall” doesn’t mean it’s a historical film. A. The Chinese film industry rarely makes anything historically accurate. B. A lot of their films are fantasy. Hero and House of Flying Daggers are both FANTASY.
They’re fighting fucking lizard monsters and you’re immediate response is to claim they’re rewriting history instead of just going “Oh, it’s a fantasy.”
Matt Damon’s given focus in marketing because, shocker, Americans will watch a film if there’s an American actor in it. That’s it. It has nothing to do with historical accuracy because it is a fantasy film that is not about the history concerning the Great Wall and calling it racist and insisting people shouldn’t watch it will only tell Hollywood that no one wants to see a film where most of the cast is Asian.
Again, this is a Chinese film, the director is Chinese, 99% of the cast is Chinese, it was entirely filmed IN CHINA. Not everything is made by Hollywood and this was not.
If you think this has nothing to do with white supremacy you are a narrow minded imbisile
*sigh* Not this shit again.
The director wants more Chinese representation, but he knows people are still more likely to watch something with a recognizable American actor. So that is why he cast Matt Damon in a lead role in this movie, so people will hear “Matt Damon” and want to watch it.
So instead of boycotting the movie and crying “white supremacy,” perhaps you should acknowledge that this man would agree with you that Chinese representation is needed and important.
But by calling for a boycott of this movie, that could take away his goal! His goal IS more Chinese representation! So please, go see this movie and help him achieve that! Please!
If you think this is a white supremacy issue after having it repeatedly explained to you it’s not, you’re an imbecile.
sometimes you are impaled by ten swords and you are still alright because a new day is dawning and sometimes a new day is dawning but it doesn’t help you because you are impaled by ten swords
