Fandom culture’s gotten so weird in the past couple months. Like, just in 2017 we’ve had:

• a fanartist getting fed cookies with needles in ‘em bc they shipped something that another person didn’t agree with
  

• someone taking photos of an animation studio’s unreleased work and putting said studio under actual legal fire bc that person threatened to keep sharing them publicly unless that company made a ship canon
  

• Dream Daddy, a LGBT+-friendly game made by LGBT+ people, being out for barely a week and people are already receiving death threats and others are giving out false info about the game bc some people aren’t into Game Grumps
  

Seriously, are y’all okay?? Like, I know people are entitled to their opinions about ships and stuff, and sometimes making your voice heard about problems in works of fiction can lead to positive change in some aspects, but like???? honestly??? if you think hating on ships/making your ship canon or w/e is worth someone’s health/safety/job, you really need to rethink your priorities. 

guess whaaaat the closer season 3 gets the more you guys are gonna hear about my interest in lotor and keiths future dynamic that ive kept secret all these time get fuuuuuckkkkedd

Because I feel like kids of color don’t hear it enough: domestic abuse is not a part of your culture. 

A lot of us where raised with the idea that “its normal for wives/children to get hit! it helps them learn– only white folk don’t get beaten when they misbehave”. That’s not true, white people aren’t the only ones who deserve a safe and abuse free environment. Black and brown people can and do have loving families. 

If you’re in a situation where you are enduring abuse and people use your culture to justify it, I want you to know that what they’re telling you are lies.
