You know what? I don’t even care if this is a joke. I don’t care about all the Stacy’s Mom Dave Strider covers in the world. Look at this girl. Look at this sixteen year old girl who has had her affections crushed, who has been called fat and other assorted horrible names by an immature alien, who has put up with Jake English whining about his relationship issues for SIX MONTHS and didn’t say a goddamn thing about how much it hurt her until she snapped, who was reduced to no words when Dirk told her he had been mistaken when he’d made her the leader, who is positive her father is dead, and who is currently possessed by an evil troll empress against her will. Now look at this girl that was the first human female to wear pants in-comic, that enjoys masculine things without sacrificing her love for baking or girly sleepovers, that isn’t ashamed to be a total cutie of a nerd, that never diminished her friendship with Dirk even if they were both crushing on Jake, who never held it against them even though she is often portrayed as the jealous exgirlfriend. Look at this girl that can swing around a giant fucking fork/trident with ease like a complete and total badass and still turn around and use “shucks buster” unironically. Jane Crocker deserves to be called hot. Jane Crocker deserves to blush. Jane Crocker deserves Channing Tatum in a well tailored suit on a bed of roses who will tell her she’s beautiful no matter what and that she is the smartest, sweetest, most down to earth girl he’s ever met. And I am so glad that even for one panel that really amounts to nothing more than a joke, she’s potentially flustered, cute, happy, whatever you wanna call it even if it’s shown through a very Dave-like way and while she’s still possessed. She deserves to have affection shown towards her because when you think about it he is the first person to ever tell her she’s hot, that she is actually attractive, even if his only knowledge of her amounts to “John’s hot mom.” Jane Crocker deserves to be called hot and so much more. And if Dave Strider will write sonnets of weird obtuse metaphors about her hotness while she chuckles along and occasionally blushes then hell fucking yeah I ship it.

thank you for saying thing i couldnt say while i was asleep

I agree with a lot of things except Dirk was right when he said she shouldn’t have been a leader because she was a bad one. And she DID hold it against Dirk when he got together with Jake. She fucking HIT him when Jake kissed Dirk’s head. She never defended Dirk when Jake was saying all kinds of horrible things about him. All she thought about then was herself. And Jake DID ask her if she was interested and she said NO. That was her own fault!

So NO, she isn’t this perfect little princess that everyone makes her out to be. Dave wants to bone her? She’s not the first one. Good for her if that makes her happy but please don’t ignore all the faults she actually has.

First of all, you obviously missed the whole point of this post which was pointing out her better qualities in order for people like you to stop skewing the fandom’s perspective of her. She is not a perfect princess, but she deserves some happiness, and I don’t understand why so many people are against that.

She got angry at Dirk because he killed all of them just so that Jake could be the hero when they entered the session. She never defended Dirk because she never ever ever took a side when it came to them, and listened as well as she could with her heartbreak until her emotions finally boiled over. She accepted that she fucked up, Hussie wrote an entire essay thing on how she accepted she fucked up, and she in no way ever became angry or revengeful or thought to sabotage the relationship. She accepted her heartbreak, and did the best that she could. Dirk and Jane were still friends, as evidenced by the conversation before they went godtier. They accepted that things were tense, but that they never stopped being friends. As for leadership, Roxy was drunk and frankly terribly passive aggressive, no one trusted Dirk enough, and Jake had a reputation for being a little dense. She was the best choice for a leader. Even if Dirk took it back later. She is self-centered and selfish like you said. But she tried her hardest, probably harder than any of her friends, to be what they wanted her to be.

These are my justifications. Sorry if you’re still convinced that the proper characterization for these characters is that Jane’s a bitch and Dave wants to fuck every chick he meets.

I agree with a lot of what’s going on here except this;

‘She got angry at Dirk because he killed all of them just so that Jake could be the hero when they entered the session. ’

that. is not what happened?

people didnt listen to him and that resulted in their deaths and dirk, on the spot, figured out a way for them all to survive (to some extent) to make it into the game.

can we talk about this moment in the concept art??

I think it represents the solicitud of jack well enough…
u.u…..

…NO NO NO NO NO.

THIS IS NOT OKAY.

NOT AT ALL.

But seriously though… this scene would have been so beautiful in the movie… because we would have gotten a more defined view of Jack’s agonizing pain of loneliness, and not being believed in…

In fact, I’ve seen several concept art like this, with a deeply depressed and heartbroken Jack…

So it makes me think, that they actually toned down the movie, to make it more child friendly… when in reality, they could have made scenes of this movie truly painful and depressing to watch…

And I swear, seeing a moment like this in the movie, would had made it so much better… because I believe some people who saw the movie forgets, how much Jack Frost has really suffered.

I think Dreamworks could have showed more of that.

Were there is light, there is also darkness. And Jack Frost do have a darker side of his soul.

Poor boy… <3

Again… I just adore this beautiful art.

It also would have been amazing to see some of Jack’s time alone. To see him break down at times, to go insane from the loneliness, to scream and yell, and just feel the pain in his character.

They also could’ve shown a lot more depth during the Antarctica scene; made the battle between Jack and Pitch much more aggressive, and shown the emotions and mental backgrounds between the two characters as they fought.

Had this movie not been for kids, Dreamworks could’ve gotten away with showing the complete mental breakdowns and traumas of the characters.

Here’s the tutorial I was asked to do - my peacock hair! :) I hope this gives everyone a more detailed look on how I did my hair. If I missed something or something isn’t clear, please feel free to ask me a question so I can add in more detail or clarify anything in this tutorial. :) Also, make sure to enlarge the photos in a new tab for a clearer view of what’s going on! Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Hair dye ( of course, right? ;) ): I used six different shades for this style. I used a purple (Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Purple), a violet (Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Fuchsia with Adore’s Violet Gem), a pink (Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Magenta with Adore’s Rich Fuchsia), a green (Punky Colour’s Apple Green), a teal (Ion Color Brilliance in Teal), and a turquoise (Adore’s Turquoise with Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Aqua) dye. Of course, you can use any brand that you’d like for those shades, these are just the brands I prefer to use/mix together to form the shade of dye I want. The Ion Color Brilliance Brights were Purchase at Sally Beauty and the Adore and Punky Colour were purchase on Amazon.
  2. Mixing bowls and brushes: I purchased mine from Sally Beauty. When I didn’t have enough bowls I used plastic cups with the top parts cut off so I could reach the dye easily with my brush, but not low enough so the brush would knock the cup over if it was left in there. It’s best to have one bowl/cup and one brush per color so you don’t have to keep washing the brush and drying the brush over and over. It really wastes a lot of product and time.
  3. Little clips: These are pretty necessary to do this. You need tons of little clips to keep the colored pieces of hair away from the others while you’re going from section to section. I think I got mine either at the dollar store or at Walmart. You can get a pack of 24 count clips at Walmart for under $2.
  4. A helping hand: It’s really difficult to do this one on your own. I usually do my hair by myself, but this one I had to give in and ask my Mom to do a lot of the work so the areas where the dye was and how the dye was applied was more exact. It would be pretty much impossible to do the back of your head on your own as well. It’s also very time consuming to do because of how many sections on colors there are so be aware of that if you’re trying to do your hair in a hurry. Last time we did this it took about 3 hours to just apply the dye! Also, if you choose to do this on your own … challenge accepted!?
  5. Gloves: Don’t want stained hands!
  6. A junky shirt: Does anyone else have a shirt that they always bleach/color their hair in? If so, put it on! You don’t want to get any dye on your clothes because it’s pretty hard to get it out.

Before getting started!

  1. As you can see from the photos I have bleached my roots, as my hair is naturally very dark brown/black, and toned out a good amount of the yellow tones left over. It’s important to have light blonde hair when applying alternative colors as they show up much better and truer to their shade than on darker hair colors. I didn’t bother to bleach out the rest of my hair so you can see some of the residual colors throughout the length of my hair. You can choose to bleach your hair or not, that’s up to you. If you want to bleach your hair, do it a bit beforehand to make sure your hair is in good condition to hold the dye as damaged hair doesn’t hold color as well.
  2. Get everything ready. You’ll need your dyes, your brushes, your gloves, your shirt, your hair coloring buddy, and to make sure the area around you is protected from the dye (putting down newspaper or a drop cloth on the floor can save the carpet).
Now you’re ready!
  1. First, mix the colors you want to mix together. I mixed together: Adore in Violet Gem + Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Fuchsia, Adore in Rich Fuchsia + Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Magenta and Adore in Aquamarine + Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Aqua. Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Purple, Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Teal, and Punky Colour in Apple Green were all left unmixed. I like to mix my colors to get the perfect shade I’m looking for, but if you don’t want to purchase more dyes, just skip this step!
  2. I choose to do my undercut first to establish the line for where the sectioned colors start. For my undercut I choose the Adore in Violet Gem + Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Fuchsia mixture.
  3. Start by making a part down from the crown of your head to your hair line. How wide you make it will determine the width of your squares. Clip the rest of your hair to the side to make sure it’s out of the way.
  4. Next, choose how many squares of color you want going down the line. I did 4 squares perviously, but I wanted the colors a little bolder so I’m doing 3 and 4 squares, depending on where they are on my head.
  5. Take the comb and make a part across for the square, keeping the rest of the hair in the line pushed forward.
  6. Using your brush, place some of the color around the edges square making sure it’s all sectioned off. This helps to keep all of the hairs together.
  7. From there on, color the rest of the strand of hair within the square until it’s saturated with dye.
  8. Once the hair is saturated, twist the hair around as if you’re twirling it. When it’s all twirled together, take one of your small clips and clip the hair down within the square of color, making sure it doesn’t touch any other pieces of hair.
  9. Continue doing this down the line you made with your comb.
  10. As you do the colors, try not to place the same ones next to each other. You’ll definitely have some of the colors diagonally from each other, but try to make sure they’re not directly next to one another.
  11. Keep going across until you’ve gotten by your ear. Once all of the hair on the front half of your head is done, you can start on the back.
  12. Make a part from the crown of the head all the way down to your neck. Do the same thing as the top part of you head with the sectioning, coloring, twisting, and clipping until you’re done with your entire head.
  13. Let the dye sit for a while. I usually leave it on for a few hours. You may want to put a shower cap on your hair so the dye doesn’t dry out.
  14. Take out all of the clips from your hair and get ready to rinse it out. You will want to wash out your hair in cold water to help lock in the color and prevent bleeding.
  15. Either air dry or blow dry your hair, depending on your preference and TA-DA! you have lovely peacock hair!

I hope everyone liked this highly requested tutorial and that it helps you out if you ever decide to do your hair like this or if you just like to read/look at tutorials! Also, as a side note, please do not save these photos to re-upload them onto Tumblr or somewhere else. I’d like to keep this tutorial linked to this blog as much as possible. Thank you! :) Happy hair coloring~!
