I know there’s a lot more I could have covered but with tumblr’s image limit and my own need to get back on personal projects and packing my room up, I stuck to the ABCs of understanding artists and not being a total douche.
Hope this helps a little.
#I’m reblogging this again because of the recent uprise in entitlement#there’s been about 7 posts now#containing the all too annoying question#Why won’t you draw for ME?#because you touch yourself at night.#and santa says not to#that’s why.
cis ppl can have horns and swirls and spikes n shit surgically implanted under their skin any time they want if theyre rich enough but a trans woman wants boobs she has to wait at least 1-2 years for doctors to be convinced that she REALLY wants them
A cis woman who doesn’t have boobs or wants bigger ones can go and buy them any time if she has the money. A cis man with low testosterone can have T prescribed for him on the first doctor’s visit. Cis women take estrogen and progesterone routinely, for various reasons. A cis man with gynecomastia (breast growth) can have top surgery just because.
What I mean is it’s not just piercings and horns: Cis people can have actual gender-related medical interventions done any time, and they do have them, and it’s perfectly normal. But when trans people want the same interventions, often to literally save our lives, we have to wait years and jump through countless hoops to convince doctors that we really need it. The same things that cis people can have just like that.

or, you know, teach people not to rape other people…
Sadly, even if you teach people not to rape, they’ll do it anyway if they really want to, so these are still helpful in the event of rape, OR assault.
These self defense tips are not here to tell a person not to get raped, they are here to tell a person what to do in the event where someone is attempting to rape or assault them.
We do need to teach people not to rape, but we do not yet live in a world where rape and assault does not happen, and until we do, it’s important that we know how to protect ourselves in the event that it does happen.Someone get tumblr user shinjaninja a medal.
This is something that some Navy SEALs taught girls in my gym class in high school. But there’s another rather effective (and kinda cool) tactic to use.
They used myself (A tall kid at the time, not very big but rather tall) and a rather skinny, tiny short girl for a demonstration. They had me grab the girl’s neck from behind—as pictured in the bottom left—and keep her in a tight headlock. Then the SEALs instructed the girl to drop to one knee and allow gravity to flip me over her shoulder onto my fucking head.
That’s right. No matter how small you might be, or how big and strong your attacker is, you can shift their center of gravity against them and flip them over shoulder with little to no effort on your part, allowing you time to land a blow and get the fuck out of there. And ever since then, I’ve taught my female friends that trick if time and circumstance ever allowed.
Stay safe, ladies.Imma add another tip:
Pointer and middle finger right under the jaw and push up. Try it, it hurts like hell, and it will get them to lift their head up at which point you can kick or elbow loose.
That one, and under the nose, too. Place your thumb under it, and shove upward. They’ll either back off out of reflex, or you’ll break their nose. Plus, it will shatter their concentration, and they won’t be able to keep a grip on you, which will let you get loose, and give you an opportunity to either escape, or employ another tactic.
Everyone needs to see this. Spread it
I need feminism because most men’s restrooms still aren’t equipped with baby changing stations. As someone who was married to a man who had sole custody of his young son, I’m hyperaware that feminism means EQUALITY, not female superiority. Feminism should and does support a man’s right to be as much of a parent to his child(ren) as any mother is allowed/expected to be.
This is a constant problem for Mr. Tea and myself. We’ve got twins, so even though I can change one kid on the change table in the ladies’ room, he’s left standing sort of awkwardly in the lobby with a messy child while I change one, come back, and get the other.
Nobody’s suggesting that men aren’t parents, so the lack of change tables goes well beyond ‘gender role reinforcing’ and straight into ‘ridiculous’.
My dad actually almost got kicked out of a mall once for changing my brother in the womens room of a mall. The only reason they didn’t call the cops on him was because the ladies in the room supported him.
I’d never even considered this but I support it

Taking a break from our regularly scheduled program…this has absolutely nothing to do with the usual content of my blog, but I’ve seen a lot of angry ranting by non-Japanese people about how “offensive” the new Avril Lavigne music video is, and I felt the need to set the record straight about something.
And that is what Japanese people think about the video.
(Btw, here’s a Japanese article linking the video, titled “Avril’s New Song That is Overflowing with Love for Japan”: http://videotopics.yahoo.co.jp/videolist/official/music/pcaba1d18e2bdd6a6a5661cdce7e96ec2)
For those of you who think this is absolutely crazy, or haven’t heard about it at all (lucky you), here’s the rundown of this controversy. There are a few basic things that I’ve seen people complaining about for this video.
- The motif of the video is oversimplifying/labeling Japan as nothing but “kawaii” and giving a false representation of what Tokyo is.
- The backup dancers are robotic, expressionless, and uniform. This feeds into stereotypes that Asian women are subservient and have no purpose besides decoration. (read: women in most music videos, regardless of race, are portrayed this way. Sexist, sure. But racist?)
- Avril is being offensive by saying Japanese words with a “vaguely Asian accent” (read: trying to properly pronounce Japanese words, which she makes a fairly good try at, for a non-Japanese speaker).
I’m not going to pay any more lip service to these arguments, because as a person who speaks Japanese, has lived in Japan for years, and is primarily friends with Japanese people, I feel that all of these points are 100% bullshit. Not only that, there’s nothing about this video that hasn’t been done by a whole slew of different JPop chicks. Have any of you ever looked at Kyary Pamyu Pamyu?! (I try to avoid doing so, myself). And let’s not get into the cultural appropriation of Black culture by K-Pop or the cultural appropriation of European culture by the lolita fashion style in Japan. Or what about any old Japanese VK PV that utilizes overly sexualized white models who serve no purpose other than being pretty? Avril’s “offense” seems pretty minor considering that we tend to accept all these other things as if they’re no problem.
Is cultural appropriation of Japanese concepts really offensive to all Asians, even those not of Japanese descent, or who have never lived in Japan? And if not, what do real Japanese people think about this music video?
I decided to take to Twitter and find out.
