Spend 7 minutes of your life watching this show on gendered marketing
This is brilliant. I specifically buy razors and shaving cream marketed to men because it’s at least 30% cheaper in the US, and yet the quality is way better.
This is really interesting
i was at the supermarket a few months ago, looking for a new shampoo, when a man and his two kids walked past me. the father told one of the kids ‘here are the shampoos, pick one’ and the kid was like ‘NO, these are for GIRLS. we need shampoo for MEN’ and he kept walking and then called his dad ‘LOOK, here are the shampoos for MEN’ and i just like
"Bring consent out of the bedroom. I think part of the reason we have trouble drawing the line “it’s not okay to force someone into sexual activity” is that in many ways, forcing people to do things is part of our culture in general. Cut that shit out of your life. If someone doesn’t want to go to a party, try a new food, get up and dance, make small talk at the lunchtable—that’s their right. Stop the “aww c’mon” and “just this once” and the games where you playfully force someone to play along. Accept that no means no—all the time."
I’d love to see the reactions to this from a crowd. I can kind of imagine a quiet, solemn understanding from the ladies and a lot of confused questions from the guys… If my memory of art school serves me.
I’m a guy and I just sort of paused and stared in silent horror because of what must it be like to carry all that with you. I can see this being a real setup for someone’s keys and that saddens me.
I actually had to sit and think a second to see what all of these even were :/
the thing that looks like a cat is actually a form of brass knuckles. add to that the whistle, not found on most men’s keychains, and it tells a very scary story using no words at all.
if your headcanon for all the kids is white/cis/skinny or whatever
i think you should just take a moment reflect upon why you think that
if you hadnt considered the possibility of their being other ethnicities or body types, then think about why you didnt
if theres any reason you feel they cant be anything other than white/cis/skinny, then think about why that is, and whether its a valid reason
internalized racism, transphobia, and fat prejudice is a thing and sometimes we dont even notice erasing people of these types
however!
if youve considered all of this, and know that there isnt any reason why they cant be something other than white/cis/skinny, and that the aforementioned traits are not the ‘default’,
and you still just consider the kids white anyway, because, hey, its your headcanon,
