Please make no mistake: it is still evident that his motivation for killing was misogyny. It is still clear that this event happened because the shooter felt he was entitled to sex. It is still true that the shooter targeted a sorority house, killing and injuring multiple women. The fact that 4 of those who died were male does not lessen the fact that this was a disgusting display of male entitlement.

However, that being said, please do not spread misinformation about this and state that 6 women were killed. This is especially important considering that this event is being used to target the MRA and the patriarchy, because we all know what the MRA and those who defend the patriarchy are like - if you have one tiny flaw in what you’re saying, they’ll dismiss everything. It’s all too common for those MRA types to say “you stated one small fact ever so slightly wrong, therefore your entire argument is invalid”. DON’T give them that opportunity.

Did you know that after they switched to blind auditions, major symphony orchestras hired women between 30% to 55% more? Before bringing in “blind auditions” with a screen to conceal the the candidate, women in the top 5 major orchestras made up less than 5% of the musicians performing.

so I believe it was actually more complicated than that, in interesting ways. Because at first, when they did blind auditions, they were STILL hiring more men.

…Then they put down a carpet, so that high heels didn’t clack on the floor,  and BOOM women were suddenly getting hired.

The testers didn’t even know that’s what they were picking up on, which just goes to show how tiny of a cue it takes for misogyny to kick in.

When I was auditioning for various college scholarships, I’d get marked down for wearing heels because they “negatively affect breath control”.

Interestingly, none of the scoring sheets from blind auditions mentioned any issues with my musical phrasing or air support.

tl;dr, my personal experience supports the idea of sexism during auditions.

seriously there was literally a shooting today at a jewish museum and no one’s talking about it. a lot of people on tumblr have also shown that they want to ignore anti-semitism but you just can’t do that because shit like this literally JUST happened

Over 200 girls were abducted and could possibly be sold as sex slaves for trying to get an education.

A high school girl was stabbed and killed for rejecting a boy’s invitation to prom.

Six women were murdered because a boy thought “blonde sluts” deserved revenge for not having sex with him.

All of them happened just within the past 3-4 months.

When I was a freshman, my sister was in eighth grade. There was a boy in two of her periods who would ask her out every single day. (Third and seventh period, if I remember correctly.) All day during third and seventh she would repeatedly tell him no. She didn’t beat around the bush, she didn’t lie and say she was taken—she just said no.
