dont darken your skin for cosplay. stop darkening your skin for fucking cosplay
you are using someones skintone that they are oppressed for as an accessory for your costume. you can wipe it off at the end of the day and go back to benefiting from being lighter skinned, while people who are darker poc not only get shit on in the cosplay community for being dark, but also treated like their dirty in their outside lives.
Two other women, also breast cancer survivors, said their husbands left them after they were diagnosed. Both had to have mastectomies (in case anyone doesn’t know, this is the surgical operation to remove one or both breasts).
The first woman said her husband told her that he would rather see her dead than see her lose her breasts. The second woman had her operation and waited all day to be picked up by her husband, who never arrived. By nightfall, one of the nurses offered to give her a ride, and she came home to find the house empty.
Obviously, these are extreme cases of a man’s reaction to his wife’s breast cancer, but this is what I see when I see the “I ♥ Boobies” bracelets. I see love of the body parts, not the person being treated—not the patient, not the victim, not the survivor.
doing so by throwing skinny girls under the bus, calling thinner girls “fake”, or insisting that being bigger is “what men really want” (implying that any female body type is only good if it has male approval):
This is in the book I just bought about BPD called “Sometimes I Act Crazy”. Yay for medical books equating bisexuality with confusion. Yay legitimized biphobia
This book is trash. Where/who is the publisher/author? Let’s write them or if they are done blowing their $$$$ on awards and feel like doing Idk WORK on actual Bi issues maybe GLAAD could step in?
I personally would trust NOTHING in this book. If the author is this bigoted then they probably have more screwed up stuff too.
I’d definitely say action alert, comparing sexualities to mental illness symptoms although not uncommon in the medical industry is surely bloody illegal. Let’s get on this.
so I know this was going around a while ago but I just wanted to add that it’s extra disgusting because Borderline Personality Disorder is common in victims of rape and sexual abuse, which 46% of bi women are
I am so glad this circled back round to my dash so I can get this news out there!
After I saw this and wrote that up a bunch of Bi Activists including Faith Cheltenham of BiNet USA, amazing Estraven2 of NYABN and me all got together to talk about this.
Thanks to Estraven’s work the author was contacted and has confirmed THAT HE WAS WRONG AND THAT IT WILL NO LONGER APPEAR IN ANY FUTURE EDITIONS OF HIS BOOK!!
BI ACTIVISM GETTING SHIT DONE!!
SUPER AWESOME THANKS TO ALL WHO WORKED ON THIS ESPECIALLY ESTRAVEN!!!
This Issue Has Been Fixed thanks 2 Bi Tumblr
