I said I’d do it, and I know a lot of you are sick of hearing about the game everyone’s all hyped up about, but I honestly find it incredibly interesting and fun to delve into the unsettling storyline. Note that these are just MY opinions, so you’re free to disagree and form your own headcanons!
I will be linking images and audio files beneath the cut, but no pop-ups or screamers, I promise! It’s rather long, but believe me, I tried to cover everything I could.
Emily Vancamp as Sharon Carter in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”
Here’s an example of what we call a “soft no”. Sharon turns down Steve’s offer in a way that’s meant not to insult him but never actually uses the word “no”.
Steve clearly gets the message, though, and importantly offers to leave her alone. Sharon’s comment afterwards gives him an opportunity to try again later, but he doesn’t press and respects her rejection of his company even though it’s probably hurt his feelings a bit.
Just in case you ever wonder “What would Captain America do?”; there you go.
never do something steve rogers wouldn’t do.
Unless it’s jumping out of a plane without a parachute, you probably shouldn’t do that
It was mercury which is a liquid metal at room temperature that is extremely toxic.
“Mercury and most of its compounds are extremely toxic and must be handled with care… Mercury can be absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes and mercury vapors can be inhaled… Mercury can cause both chronic and acute poisoning.”
Just like how they administered it. It went through the skin.
“Symptoms of methylmercury poisoning may include impairment of peripheral vision; disturbances in sensations ("pins and needles” feelings); lack of coordination; impairment of speech, hearing, walking; and muscle weakness…
Symptoms include tremors, emotional changes, insomnia, weakness, muscle atrophy, twitching, headaches, disturbances in sensations, changes in nerve responses, and performance deficits on tests of cognitive function. Higher exposures may result in kidney effects, respiratory failure and death.”
And now she is having trouble walking and she definitely looked like she was having trouble sleeping with those bags under her eyes. And that was like a litre or more of it
Our queen survived a litre of mercury running through her veins for minutes while fighting. She is so strong and no wonder she is so so sick. That would have killed a lesser person for sure.
May I point out that among all of the other amazing things Korra has accomplished as an Avatar, she is still able to go into the Avatar State (and actually fight against going into it when needed).
All of her past Avatars are gone, so the Avatar State is empty except for her and Raava. She was alone and had to rely on herself.
That means that all of Korra’s bending abilities were her own. That wasn’t the experience of the past Avatars helping her out. She is truly an amazing bender on her own.
She is a legend and an inspiration, and a strong and courageous role model for women and men alike :)
