Mike Brown’s Mom Is Taking Her Son’s Case to the UN in Geneva
Lesley McSpadden, the mother of the 18-year-old boy whose death at the hands of a Ferguson police officer in August sparked weeks of protests, is going to Geneva, Switzerland next month to speak about her son and other victims of police brutality in front of the United Nations.
The trip — which was recently made public by organizers and promoted under the tagline “Ferguson to Geneva” — is meant to make a case, to as wide an audience as possible, that both Brown’s killing and the militarized police response to protesters demanding justice for him, are a matter of human rights.

It seems like a hideously shitty idea to give your number to someone who’d physically attack you for not giving it.
“Oh, a person that dangerous and unstable definitely won’t use my number to call me or find out where I live or stalk me or anything!”
Not sure if dude here is really dumb, talking about fake numbers, or just using potential violence as an excuse to try and convince people to give him numbers.
What they usually ignore is that giving fake numbers will put you at risk as well

That calling the number right in front of me shit happened to me a couple times.
Thankfully, none of those dudes EVER called me again, but the fact that they would call the number with me standing there would fill me with dread and tell me immediately what kind of person he is.

Every possible scenario when a man tries to kill a woman over her phone number, people will find a way to blame her for what he did:
You ignore him, so he attacks you. “Why couldn’t you just be polite? Why would you provoke someone who was obviously violent?”
You try to politely turn him down, so he attacks you. “Why couldn’t you just pretend to be interested? Why would you provoke someone who was obviously violent?”
You fake interest because you’re scared he’s going to hurt you. He thinks you’re serious and won’t leave you alone and then he attacks you when you finally try to shake him off politely with a totally reasonable excuse. “Why’d you lead him on? Why would you encourage someone who was obviously violent?”
You give him your phone number to get him to leave you alone. He starts calling you a lot, but you don’t answer, so he tracks you down, and then he attacks you. “Why did you give him your phone number? Why would you encourage someone who was obviously violent?”
You give him your fake phone number to get him to leave you alone. He realizes it’s not your real number, so he attacks you. “Why would you give him a fake phone number? Why would you provoke someone who was obviously violent?”
You give him your real phone number and you try to be nice when you call. Eventually he realizes you’re not actually interested and attacks you. “Why did you lead him on? Why would you encourage someone who was obviously violent?”
You give him your real phone number and end up being harassed into a relationship with someone who is obviously violent because you are scared for your life. He eventually tries to kill you anyhow for nebulous reasons that ultimately boil down to: he can’t completely control you the way he wants to because you are a person, not a doll. “Why do women date violent men? I don’t understand why they don’t just leave.”
I’ve heard all of these arguments in all of these situations. Men use harassment, coercion, and violence to try to get what they believe they are entitled to from women, and the woman gets blamed no matter what. Men are never expected to take responsibility for their bad behavior, because their sense of entitlement is never questioned by our misogynistic patriarchal society. In our warped society, it is reasonable for men to expect that women should be compliant, should be willing to give any man who wants them exclusive rights to her body, sex, affection, and love, and so it is reasonable for men to become violent when a woman acts in any way that denies men control over her person.
Therefore, when a man gets violent, the problem is not the man and his sense of entitlement, it is the woman, who didn’t do “what she was supposed to” even if there is absolutely nothing she could do, short of giving up her autonomy and personhood entirely. And men who get violent when women refuse to comply do so to remind them: if you won’t surrender your personhood willingly, we will take it from you by force.
This is about control, not a phone number.
Why all men are responsible for stopping this. ALL MEN
Not to mention men do not seem to understand that women are often approached multiples a day. They could be the 5th person to hit on them in a night… the 10th person to say “Hey mami!” to them on the street.
Are they supposed to say yes to ALL of them? Give ALL of them their number? Be polite to ALL of them? Go out with ALL of them? Fuck ALL of them?
While I have their individual versions buried deep within earlier Tumblr posts, I don’t think I ever put the entire crew side by side with their original bobbing animations.
These were the first true animations I did with each of the characters, basically testing the boundaries of their front facing puppets, experimenting with secondary action, and seeing how far you could bob each character before you started to break it.
Additionally, if you wanted a basic idea of how the puppets themselves were constructed, I included a screenshot of the wireframes of the puppets, which shows you the boundaries of individual symbols.
Please stop perpetuating this myth and false equivalency that because Australia is a multicultural country, racism is apparently non-existent. This is absolutely not the case. By saying this, you are erasing and silencing the voices and experiences of those who suffer from very real racial discrimination in Australia. Listen to PoC when they talk about how deeply rooted racism is in this country. Wake up and start taking in the facts.
i really hate it when people reply to posts that describe a negative/odd feeling that someone has with ‘yeah thats depression/anxiety youve got there, youve got depression’ because
you do know that in order to actually be diagnosed with depression you have to experience several certain symptoms that, on their own, can be experienced by someone without depression? one feeling does not make up the entire disorder, and your blanket statement might have just convinced several impressionable people that theyve got a mental disorder
its a symptom. say that its a symptom. raise awareness, make it easier for people to diagnose themselves, but dont diagnose people when all youve got is a single, relateable post.

now that that’s out of the way, let me throw in my two cents into one big post, from beginning to end.
in the beginning, we’re introduced with three characters. a dog, a rad blonde dude, and a kickass blue-clad gal. they’re cruising along, nearing a haunted house when it seems like their truck runs out of gas. sure does give that impression (at least, it did to me whoops) until you see that a fuchsiaspark flew across the dash, causing their truck to temporarily break down (short-circuiting it).
this causes them to stop right in front of the creepy house. curious as any other teenager, they decide to enter the house.
upon entering, the three react immediately. Vivi seems ecstatic as all get out, while Mystery and Arthur seem confused/nervous.
this leads me to believe that Vivi has some sort of connection or interest with the surroundings/show being put on quite instantly. of course that’s before they’re met with creepy armour men with swords coming to life and them running away.
they end up in a room with pictures, and soon they’re falling down through a trap door.
on their way down, they’re met with mirrors, reflecting them back with a distorted image of them all.
Vivi with her eyes blacked out, Arthur missing an arm, and Mystery without a reflection, only broken glass.
Arthur is focused on as he advances down through the distorted reality, down into another room where Lewis resides.
when Lewis is introduced the first thing he does is (supposedly) look at Arthur, then to his orange heart, then back to Lewis with anger before pointing and chasing after him. he instantly noted who he was, and, if it wasn’t apparent the first time around, it should be the second-
he wants revenge.
so he’s left chasing Arthur, and eventually Vivi and Mystery run after when they sense danger. but all Lewis is concerned about is getting his revenge on Arthur.
Mystery stops in the middle of it all and we’re met with a flashback.
four kids this time. the one driving later shown to be Lewis.
Lewis and Vivi are suggested to be in a relationship, the first signs showing then they smile at each other (along with Mystery) - but arthur glances away, seeming upset.
they stop in front of a greencave, and decide to explore it. the first people do is look directly at Mystery and (by the end of the video) like to point out that he’s evil, that he caused all of this.
when honestly, to me, his facial expression seems much more like suspicion with how i’m tying this all up.
as they progress into the cave, they split up. Lewis with Arthur, Mystery (heading that way at first) with Vivi. we see Mystery looking over at the other two, however. in the foreground, there is a bat - and at the very last second of the scene, it opens its eyes.
its green eyes.
evidently, there are sharp rocks at the end of Lewis and Arthur’s cave. Arthur is shown to be looking at Lewis before a green color starts up his arm and over part of his face, and right afterwards he pushes Lewis down to his death.
now we’ve seen green 3 times. the cave itself is green, arthur being possessed, and the bat’s eyes.
green symbolizes jealousy.
steering this back on track, however, Mystery was in the back, watching the entire time as these events unfolded.
what most people probably missed watching the video the first time around was the fact that Vivi’s cave lead to the bottom of the spiked rocks, literally right below Lewis and Arthur’s cave. and she had walked in just mere seconds before Arthur was knocked off the edge.
she saw Arthur die with her own two eyes.
guys, Vivi just watched her best friend, her boyfriend, die. her eyes were blacked out in the mirror because she wasscarred.
Mystery is shown ripping Arthur’s arm off right after the incident.
Mystery seems like he’s able to detect evil, so what he did was literally rip that green half (the arm) away from Arthur before it spread and consumed his mind.
this leads me to suspect a few things, honestly, and i can’t be sure of what the facts are, but it’s a theory, so! the mirror cracked because he wasn’t recognized for the good he’s done, therefore erasing him from the mirror altogether (and cracking it). i mean, he’s just a dog.
this also leads to Arthur having a robotic arm, which was why in the mirror, he was shown without an arm.
backing out of the flashback to the present, it’s shown that as Lewis closes in on Arthur, Vivi jumps in front in an attempt to save Arthur / Stop Lewis.
but then Lewis is shown to have almost offered his heart back to Vivi, and it looks like Vivi almost realizes who he is but not quite before she’s pulled away yet again, leaving the house with Arthur and Mystery.
Lewis’ heart has now turned blue and cracked, unlike in the very beginning when he was shown with an orange heart.
it was still orange because he died while it was still orange.
fire is normally depicted in orange.
he had a burning love for Vivi, and died just like that, still completely in love with her.
the blue cracked heart symbolizes his broken heart- there’s no chance for him to be able to have a relationship with her (or anyone, really) ever again.
and in the end Lewis just fades from their minds and, eventually, reality itself.
a lot of this was probably obvious, but i thought i’d compile it into one big post. do throw in your thoughts, however!!
