The funniest thing is that killbenedictcumberbatch was actually wrong; if you light up a dim bulb and then shine a light thru it, the filament clearly has a shadow. The match flame doesn’t light up the section of wall the flame would cast its shadow on any more than it does the section of the wall that the match does cast its shadow on. It just so happens that, unlike a light bulb filament, the glowing gas/plasma/particulates produced by a burning match are invisible.

Fox News has honed in on Mike Brown’s step father as its next target, demanding his arrest for inciting riots. They are “reporting” that he said Burn the fuck down, and that apparently means he is responsible for any incurred damage… even though there is plenty of proof that it’s police that have been setting things ablaze.

I was just talking about this type of shit today with a friend at lunch. People pounce on black girl’s bodies - even the bodies of the President’s daughters, who are just trying to live their lives and get through school. Elizabeth Lauten’s racist and sexist comments are enough, but this is too much. They’re still growing! Even if they were grown, which they aren’t, this isn’t acceptable at all. Dozens of Germans mourned Sunday over the death of 23-year-old student Tugce Albayrak, who was killed after defending two teenage girls who were reportedly being harassed by a group of men.
The BBC reports that Albayrak was brutally attacked after intervening in the harassment earlier this month. Albayrak reportedly heard “cries for help from the toilet of a fast food restaurant” in the German town of Offenbach before confronting the group of men who were aggressively pursuing the two girls. One of the men later returned and attacked her in a parking garage.
Tugce was also a Muslim. Please don’t forget this. Since every time a Muslim commits a crime, people are so quick to mention their religion—it’s only fair that we apply the same standard and mention Islam when a Muslim does something good. And what Tugce did was so amazing and brave. She died a true hero’s death and I’m hoping this will continue to open peoples’ eyes to the deadly consequences street harassment can lead to.
